Daisies and Roses

The sky is as blue as the Nile river, and there is not a speck of cloud in the sky. The air feels fresh and sweet, it seems spring is finally here in its full glory. The boy stood there appreciating the most beautiful time of the year. As he was staring at the blue sky and the streets bustling with people, the flower store caught his eyes. He realized the colors were so pretty and elegant, and they only belonged to the prettiest woman in the world. He went through his pocket trying to find if there were any coins or notes but he couldn’t. Feeling defeated he looked at all the people in different colored clothes with pretty white, yellow and red flowers in their hands. They all looked so happy with their gummy smiles and radiant excitement. He wanted to make the prettiest woman smile just like those people, the only problem was that he had no money. So he made up his mind. He decided he was going to earn some money and get her those flowers. But alas! Making money is not as easy as it seems.

As the next day was Friday the school was off, giving him plenty of time to earn money. He spent all day running errands for his grandma, massaging his grandpa’s head and in return he asked for his well earned wages. He also tried to flatter his dad by ironing his shirt… At night, he looked back at his long and tiring day and realized he did his best. He had worked harder than he expected because he had more money than he needed. He spent the night thinking about how happy she will be when she will get those colorful flowers. He could not wait to see her smile and excitement just like those people on the streets.

The next morning he took extra care getting ready. He took a shower, put on his favorite shirt, one that made him feel a little braver and sneakily doused himself in his father’s special occasion cologne. He could not help but grin as he went to the flower store. Though immediately after he went to the store he faced a dilemma. Every single flower at the store was beautiful so he couldn’t decide what to choose! After what felt like hours of deliberation he picked a bouquet that had two roses, two daisies and one gerbera. As he had extra money with him, he decided to buy another bouquet of flowers for another special person. He paid the seller and ran, he could not hide his anticipation or anxiety. It took forever to get to the prettiest, most beautiful woman in the whole world. But once he reached home, there was no one to be found. He searched and searched around the whole house. Where was she? Then he went to the roof and there she was, the most beautiful woman! His mom! Upon receiving the flowers she gave him the sweetest smile and her excitement reflected on her whole face just as he expected. He gave the other bouquet of flowers to his father, the most handsome man in the world! At that moment the boy felt the immense love he had for his parents, and the warmth from them made him realize that they are his world!
