Ayesha Abed Library Expands Digital Arsenal

In a significant expansion of its digital resources, BRAC University Ayesha Abed Library now boasts access to more than 45,000 e-books and 56,000 online journals, sourced from some of the world’s most prestigious academic databases. This expansion is set to improve the availability of scholarly materials for students and faculty across various disciplines.The e-book collection boasts titles from renowned publishers such as McGraw-Hill, focusing on Engineering Management, and Pearson, which offers materials in fields ranging from Engineering to Social Sciences. Oxford University Press provides resources in areas including Biology, Economics, Mathematics, and Literature while Cambridge University Press prominently covers topics from Literature to Human Rights. Additional contributions come from SAGE, Project Muse, ScienceDirect, and Research4Life, enriching the library’s offerings in Social Sciences, Ethics, Finance, Pharmacy and more.

On the journals front, the library has secured content from leading platforms including the American Institute of Physics Publishing, IEEE Xplore Digital Library, Royal Society of Chemistry, JSTOR, and Oxford Journals, among others. These resources cover a wide array of subjects, from technical fields like Civil Engineering to interdisciplinary studies such as Radiology and Chemistry and extending to Art and Literature.

The library also houses a valuable collection of institutional repository items in BRACU IR, including theses, internship reports, research reports, and publications by BracU faculties, further supporting the academic and research endeavors of the University community. Furthermore, all BRACU Express’s previous and latest issues can be found in the repository too.

Accessing these resources is streamlined to ensure ease of use for the university community. On-campus, students and faculty can connect to most E-resources directly through IP recognition within the BracU domain (wifi) . For off-campus access, the library provides resources through the My Athens account, available to current faculty, researchers, and students. This remote access feature ensures that the entire university community can easily access these materials from any location.

Additionally, the library’s online services include book-searching and placing hold through the online catalogue, essential tools such as citation guidelines & builders, and plagiarism-checking facilities, which are crucial for students and faculty members to maintain academic integrity in their scholarly work.
