Bridging the Gap: Brac University Computer Club (BUCC) Hosts Dynamic Seminar on Software Quality Assurance Engineering

On June 21st, BRAC University Computer Club (BUCC) organized a captivating seminar titled “Enhance Software Quality: A Seminar on Software Quality Assurance (SQA)” at the BBS Seminar room on the 19th floor of Building 2 of BRAC University. The event aimed to shed light on the expanding industry of SQA engineering and highlight the career opportunities available in this field. The seminar featured esteemed guest speakers, Sabiul Islam Rashed, Head of Cyber Security & SQA Department at Burnsys, Dubai (UAE), and the President of the Bangladesh SQA community, along with Ehsanul Alam Sabbir, Senior SQA Engineer at Cefalo Bangladesh Ltd and an alumnus of BRAC University.

The session commenced with Rashed discussing the emergence of the SQA community and its rapid growth as a global career path. He provided valuable insights into SQA salaries in the USA and the potential job prospects in Bangladesh. Rashed shared essential techniques that participants could learn, such as test casing, API testing, and database testing, and recommended online resources like YouTube for acquiring these skills within a few minutes. Additionally, he encouraged students to engage in various projects and not solely focus on academic achievements, emphasizing the importance of gaining practical experience alongside maintaining a good CGPA. Rashed also shared his personal journey of seizing opportunities and rising to become the Head of Cyber Security and SQA Department at Burnsys, UAE.

The seminar concluded with an interactive question and answer session that saw enthusiastic participation from the attendees. The speakers commended the students for their genuine interest and dedication, stating that many of them were now better versed in SQA operations than themselves. They praised the capabilities of the new generation when driven by dedicated effort.

Reflecting on the seminar, Abdullah Shamsul Arefin (Freshman, CSE) stated, “Before today’s seminar, I had no idea about this sector of engineering. However, through this seminar, I gained comprehensive knowledge about SQA engineering. Our alumni broke down the subject, discussing its present situation and future possibilities. As technology such as AI continues to dominate the market, CSE students like us are increasingly concerned about job prospects. Learning about SQA engineering, it can be assumed that this sector holds significant potential in the near future, around 10 years, as software has become an integral part of our daily lives. Our alumni also provided some fundamental steps to master SQA within a span of 3 to 4 months.”

Similarly, MD Raihanul Islam Bhuiyan (Senior, CSE) expressed his interest in exploring this field, stating, “After today’s seminar, I am interested in pursuing a future career in SQA engineering. It is essential for CSE students to explore various fields to gain a better understanding of their own passions.”

Overall, the seminar provided students at BRAC University with an excellent opportunity to discover an exciting career path and understand the significance of becoming sought-after software developers in the dynamic technological market.
