Insightful seminar guides Microbiology students to a successful thesis
On 12th November, the BracU Microbiology Student Council (BUMSC), under the Microbiology program coordinator, organized ‘Road Map To Thesis.’ The seminar served as an engaging guideline on thesis insights and implementation for the Microbiology students of BracU. From the core definition to mastering a researchful thesis, the respected faculty, teaching assistants, and recent graduates covered everything and clarified it.
Alvi Rahman (Junior, MIC) hosted the event. The introductory speech began with Adjunct lecturer Somnath Guptha describing the Microbiology thesis course MIC450 base, including its direction and objectives. Throughout his speech, he ensured that a friendly setting was maintained. After that, teaching assistant Nayara Noor-E-Fatima elaborated on the thesis project topics, procedures, sample collection, research, and thesis defense. She advised, “Empower yourself by seeking knowledge from diverse sources.”
BUMSC also facilitated an interactive Q&A session, creating a lively and engaging atmosphere for students to express their curiosity and clear out thesis-related confusion. The session, advised by Associate Professors Dr. Nadia Sultana Deen, Dr. Fahim Kabir Monjurul Haque, Dr. Mahbubul Hassan Siddiqee, and Senior Lecturer Akash Ahmed from the Microbiology department, was characterized by a cheerful ambiance. Dr. Fahim Kabir emphasized, “Maintaining momentum in research is crucial. It means finding answers to specific questions and not giving up till the end.” Faculty members recommended students prioritize their interests when choosing thesis topics. Moreover, they announced that laboratory safety training is now mandatory to complete before starting the thesis.
After the session, the honorable faculty members took a moment to recognize and appreciate outstanding achievements. They presented some graduate students with a farewell and appreciation crest, a gesture that acknowledged their hard work and dedication. Special recognition for outstanding Research Achievement was awarded to Farhan Bakhtiar Ahmed and Fariea Sultana (Senior, MIC), inspiring all students to aim for excellence in their thesis work.
The seminar proved invaluable for Microbiology students, offering clear guidance on thesis development and research execution. Expert advice, interactive discussions, and recognition for outstanding achievements inspired participants to approach their thesis journey with confidence and determination.
