Harmonizing music and academics with Ajmain

They say, “Talent is everywhere; it only needs the opportunity.” Brac University is an ocean of
talented individuals waiting for an opportunity to be recognized. In the form of such a talent,
Ajmain Iqtiad (Junior, EEE) provides insight into a young artist’s life, navigating academics and
passion for music. As a student in his third year in a daunting department like EEE, he
discusses the inspirations and difficulties of his journey.

Ajmain takes the help of social media to showcase his talent, where he uploads covers of
himself covering songs, assisted by his guitar, which is a self-taught skill. Although he sings
mostly soulful tracks, his favorite genre is rock. Juggling between creative satisfaction and
studies, he mentions that his approach is more spontaneous than strategic. Illustrating the
comfort that music brings him, he explains he likes to go with the flow rather than follow a
pattern. He also talks about the importance of always wanting to improve. When asked
what his advice would be to fellow artists like him, he suggested that one must ensure they are
consistent with developing and maintaining music skills. He says, “As independent artists, we
don’t have any mentors. We are our mentors. So it is important to ensure we constantly monitor
our growth and improve with time.”

Tunes of BracU aims to intrigue audiences and build a community of similar interests. By
bringing musically talented artists forward and sharing their stories, those interested in music
feel seen. With common grounds in terms of music, instruments, and genres, other upcoming
young artists of BracU will be inspired to showcase their talent to the world.
