“You can truly learn to change and enhance your mindset around sensible and educated people.” Mohammad Eleas, a staff member of the CSE Department at BRAC University, recounted his vibrant and jovial story of his life experiences and learnings. He began his career at this institution in 2003 and has persisted with it for nearly 22 years.
He grew up in Gazipur. After S.S.C., he shifted to Dhaka for employment and joined here. Presently, he is residing in Mohakhali with his wife and two sons. He works from 7.30 a.m. His notable responsibilities are printing the exam questions, preparing the copies, providing snacks or lunch to the professors or chairpersons, following the official guidelines and tasks, and contributing to other essential management. In most cases, they had to stay till 9.30/10.00 pm for the master’s program or thesis-related works. Sometimes they had to be present on Friday for midterm/final examination duties.
In his youth, he was keen to explore sports and cultural programs compared to academics. He had participated in the Gazipur Zila league twice for volleyball. He was competitive. He passionately competed and strived to obtain prizes in those fields. His father was a sports teacher. However, he did not put any parental strain.
He had a knack for poem recitation. He regained this opportunity on the university’s annual picnic occasions. Here, for 4/5 years, he has showcased his flair for poem recitation. In BRACU Express’s Slam Poetry Competition, he was the only staff to perform in the open mic segment. The audience admired his compelling performance and immersion in dramatic experiences through reciting the Bangla poem.
He feels blessed to be associated with such an institute and expresses his sincere gratitude for such scopes. He is delighted to receive recognition and rediscover his passion alongside his work activities. He believes engaging with faculties, students, and others has helped him to perceive diverse practical aspects of life. “If I still get such chances, I will continue following it. Including interpersonal skills, it has taught me plenty of things. I enjoy keeping the zeal.”
