Quran distribution on campus sparks dialogue on compassion and unity
In the midst of chaos, bigotry, and violence, at a time when our surrounding is divided by beliefs, the most powerful response is indeed, education. BracU students have decided to answer vandalism with wisdom, by distributing the Quran for free.
The event focused on preaching the narrative of peace that religion teaches. By participating in the event in harmony, students and faculty members contributed to the event’s success. The message of compassion and respect the holy book teaches was seen in the students. Instead of reacting to the incidents that could deepen fractures between communities, the students acted with purpose.
Adiat Muhtasim (Junior, MNS), one of the event managers, further stated that the government needs to take proper action to stop mob justice and that it’s essential to instill the right moral values among people. He added, “We also need to raise awareness about what Islam actually says.” However, there were some mixed feelings over the event. A passerby Saad Rahman (Senior, EEE) added, “The event vocalised for students to come together to promote understanding and peace but it was also disappointing to hear a few slogans that shifted the focus away from that message. Such remarks risk creating division rather than healing it.”

Arifa Jahan (Sophomore, EEE) said, “People will be eager to learn more about their religion and the holy book. Everyone should respect all faiths. We shouldn’t resort to mob justice; the Prophet himself directed us to preach, not enforce.” The need to learn about religion to be a good human was echoed by the statement of Mahmud Saiful (Freshman, MNS), “By reading the holy book, you will learn everything you need to lead a good life, and we need it now more than ever. No religion teaches us to disrespect others; those who do aren’t truly religious.”
In a world torn by rage and ignorance, these students proved that wisdom, not wrath, redeems humanity, for enlightenment remains the most sacred rebellion against darkness.
