TV Shows

Whether you want to escape from the grim realities of life or double down on them, here is a list of 10 television shows you can watch while in lockdown.

  1. Bojack Horseman is an animated dark comedy featuring an anthropoid horse who reached his peak a little early in life, and is trying to figure out what to do now that the world is at his fingertips. If melancholia and existential dread are your thing, this is the perfect show for you.
  2. If you are a fan of science fiction, you will be hooked on Black Mirror. This unravels the unanticipated corollary of new technologies with sardonic themes that examine modern society.
  3. The Outsider, mostly catering to horror enthusiasts, commences with an investigation, but things soon get ugly following the spine-chilling murder of a young boy. The investigators begin to question everything they know when an insidious, paranormal force lingers on the case.
  4. The Office is an American mockumentary sitcom on a syndicate of typical office employees whose tedious days are infested with ego clashes and inappropriate behaviour.
  5. Westworld is an American science fiction series set in a state-of-the-art amusement park where visitors associate with automatons until the ambience boils into a frenzied, panic-stricken situation when the robots seemingly begin to malfunction.
  6. Fleabag is a tragicomedy featuring a dry-witted woman with zero filter. In trying to cope with tragedy she resists anyone who tries to assist her, but manages to keep her swagger and composed attitude at all times.
  7. Better Call Saul is a must watch for fans of Breaking Bad. This show highlights an ex-con artist who goes through a procession of trials and tragedies as he becomes a small-time attorney with a flexible moral compass. Bonus recommendation: watch Breaking Bad, an American crime drama where an ordinary chemistry teacher finds out he has cancer, and turns into a remorseless player in a dangerous drug trade business in order to provide for his family.
  8. Ozark is a crime drama where a family has to be relocated from Chicago to a summer resort community when a criminal activity related to money goes berserk. The main character is coerced to pay off his debt to a Mexican drug lord if he wants to safeguard his family, amidst which the fragmented household is forced to reconnect.
  9. Brooklyn Nine-Nine is everyone’s favourite sitcom. Well, mostly. It revolves around a childish, yet brilliant commanding officer who solves every hard case with his eccentric yet humorous methods, along with his crew who are each quirky in their own ways.
  10. Finally, we have Haunting of the Hill House, one of the best horror series out there. This features 5 siblings who grow up to face ghosts of their pasts. Some of the apparitions linger on their minds while the others walk around the corners of the house they grew up in.
