City Bank demystifies job market at the career fair
From 3rd-4th December, the Brac University career fair was held, drawing over 60 renowned employers, providing an invaluable platform for networking, internships, and on-the-spot job offers. Organised by the Office of Career Services and Alumni Relations (OCSAR), the fair offered an opportunity for graduates to engage with industry professionals and explore career prospects. City Bank PLC, Banglalink, BSRM, Apex, Chevron, bKash, BRAC Bank, BRAC, ACI, Berger, and Square were among the entities that participated in the fair.
The highlight of the fair was the session “Spotlight by City Bank” where Md Arup Haider (Deputy Managing Director and Head of Retail Banking, City Bank PLC) inspired students preparing to enter the job market. He advised those graduating soon to gain necessary career skills and opportunities in the banking sector and build a career that is in harmony with one’s goals and dreams. He also talked about how AI can help build new career positions in the banking sector rather than taking away people’s jobs. Moreover, he discussed City Alo, a specialised banking service for women.

In the end, the two-day career fair not only connected students with industry leaders but also inspired them to build confidence and envision stronger career paths. As Nishat Anwar (Head of Human Resources, City Bank PLC) said, “Your first job may not be your dream job. But to build a good career, you need to be disciplined, have a mindset of patience, and step out of your comfort zone.” She also added, “To be successful in your career, you need to believe in yourself. You need to build yourself as a brand.”
