Student to Faculty: Md. Aftab Alam
In this episode of Student to Faculty, we feature Md. Aftab Alam’s (Senior Lecturer, ESS) journey from BracU student to renowned faculty member which is both inspiring and a complete circle.
He graduated from BracU in Anthropology and then went on to pursue his Master’s at Vrije University Amsterdam on a fully funded VUFP scholarship. His study interests include language, culture and intergroup relations in Bangladesh. He has also collaborated with the Architecture department as a researcher.
His enthusiasm for teaching is what makes him unique. To students, he is known as the iconic SOC101 faculty. His lessons are memorable, engaging and based on actual events. Every semester gives him a fresh feeling. The same course gives him excitement, adrenaline and a sense of thankfulness towards his work. His message towards his students is simple, “Believe in yourself, avoid shortcuts and remember that slow and steady learning provides the best rewards.”
