BURed launches their first Research Journal “Reflection”

On October 30, the BRAC University Research for Development Club(BUReD) celebrated the successful launch of their very first research publication, “Reflection”, in the lecture theater 9E-20T on the university campus. “Reflection” contains articles and research conducted by the members of BUReD and its editorial panel and is currently made available in the Ayesha Abed Library in both physical and digital formats.

The launching event saw the enthusiastic participation of students and guests alike. The guest speakers included: Dr. Tarnima Warda Andalib (Advisor, BUReD), Saif Kabir (Co-advisor, BUReD), David Dowland (Registrar, Brac University), Hasina Afroz (Librarian, Brac University) and Syed Shahnawaz Mohsin (Political and International Affairs Analyst).

After a warm welcome by the BURed club members, the launching ceremony kicked off with a speech by club president Abtahi Noor, who detailed the publication process of “Reflection”. The editor-in-chief of the journal and chief club advisor of BUReD, Dr. Tarnima Warda Andalib mentioned the arduous process of publishing amidst the July uprising and congratulated the club for their enthusiastic participation. The founding member of BUReD, Labby Ahsan, gave a heartfelt speech detailing his involvement with the project since the conception of the club.

The guest speaker for the event, Mr. Syed Shahnawaz Mohsin, who is acting as an adjunct faculty for a myriad of private universities, gave an incredibly engaging and insightful speech for the aspiring researchers and advised the attendees on the do’s and dont’s of publishing their first paper.

Along with the speeches given by the guest speakers and club panel, BUReD arranged an exciting Q&A session for the attendees, a mini cultural program, a certificate-giving ceremony for club members, and a photo session with BUReD and the guests.

The kickstarting of Reflection in summary was a success. BUReD aims to publish more iterations of the journal and is looking to release the book annually with the hopes of being a legitimate platform for research aspirants of BRAC University.
