BracU witnesses cultural fusion of Bengali monsoon heritage
On August 14th, BRAC University Cultural Club (BUCuC) hosted a mesmerizing event of cultural celebration titled “বাংলা গানের ভাবনা ও পথচলা: স্রাবণ ছন্দে আনন্দে” to cherish the gradual metamorphosis of monsoon through the blend of Bengali musical and dancing performances. The event took place in the campus auditorium, which brought a warm union of students, faculty, staff members, and an excited audience.

This cultural program has a tradition at BracU, organized annually under a different theme until 2018, but the new campus has witnessed such an event for the very first time. One of the organizers, Avibadhan Das (Junior, CSE), shared, “This program was arranged in the hopes of embracing Bengali literature, songs, and dance that reflected our heritage. Students and faculty performed in collaborations that mirrored a heartfelt bonding between them.”

The event commenced with a hearty performance of Kazi Nazrul Islam’s “Esho he shojolo Shyam ghono deya”, along with more folk songs and poetry recitations. Azharul Islam Bhuiya (Joint Director of Finance and Accounts, BracU) performed a beautiful recitation named “Sraboni Borshon” along with the members of BUCuC. Professor Syed Ferhat Anwar (VC, BracU) invited Professor Samia Huq (Dean, GenEd) and Ariful Islam (Treasurer, BracU) onto the stage for a lovely performance. The program ended with a special dance performance themed “Bhanu Singh er Podoboli”, which was a highlight of the show.

Both participants and audience expressed their pleasure in attending such an event which serves cultural refreshment among a rigorous academic atmosphere for students.
