Brac University held star-studded 14th Convocation

The 14th Convocation of Brac University was held virtually on January 27th, with graduates joining online. The ceremony was broadcasted live on BracU’s official Facebook page and was graced by the presence of Dr Dipu Moni, Honourable Minister, Ministry of Education as the Chief Guest. Professor Kazi Shahidullah, Chairman of the University Grants Commission of Bangladesh (UGC) as Special Guest, and Dr Muhammed Zafar Iqbal, Author, Physicist and Academic as the Convocation Speaker. Shehreen Ferdous (Alumni, MNS) delivered the Valedictorian’s speech.

A total of 1966 students received degrees this time, of which 31 were awarded gold medals. The Chancellor’s gold medals were presented by the Honourable Education Minister, while Professor Vincent Chang, Vice-Chancellor of BracU, presented the Vice-Chancellor’s gold medals. In her speech, Dipu Moni encouraged the graduates to cultivate their love for the Bangla language and their country while advancing their knowledge of the heritage and culture of Bangladesh. Additionally, UGC Chairman Professor Dr Kazi Shahidullah commended BracU for its profound investment in research. He also received the 14th Convocation Crest from Dr David Dowland, Registrar of BracU. Additionally, Dr Muhammed Zafar Iqbal spoke on the importance of knowledge, identifying knowledge as the true measure for the wealth of a country; he thanked the new graduates for “making our country a bit wealthier.” Finally, Shehreen Ferdous, Valedictorian and Chancellor’s gold medalist, inspired her fellow graduates by saying, “We stand at the cusp of infinite possibilities. And at this moment, we are envied. Not because of what we have done, but because of what is yet to come. We are about to embark on an incredible journey.”
