The Bittersweet Tale of Prolonged Semester Break

How would you feel when you get a long break after one of the most hectic semesters? Finally the moment has arrived for BracU students. But surely the time didn’t come without a catch.

Let me break it down, while the unusually long vacation seems exciting yet raises questions. Of course, they begin with procrastination. To simplify, most of us will be with our phones or rotting in beds, wasting these valuable days of vacation. How to fight this?

We can simply practise our hobbies like- painting, singing, reciting and many more. Some may say or perhaps share the meme of not having any hobbies or skills in their socials. Some unironically believe this. We can pick a new skill to learn. Moreover, we can spend quality time with dear ones. Although Rawhi Deema Reza (Sophomore, MNS) shares a different outlook about this, “I think we can avoid procrastination by doing our daily chores timely such as eating, sleeping, praying etc.”

Another fact remains uncertain. How are we going to get back to studies? We have already chosen our courses hence we may go through the contents before returning to our classrooms. Samin Yasar (Sophomore, CSE) stated his idea, “We need to tell our brains frequently that we have to start studying 4-6 days before starting classes. And if possible in the vacations we should give 1-2 hours to do something that needs focus.”

Indeed, holidays arrive with immense happiness and hue especially when it is a long one. Without proper utilization it becomes a bitter and regrettable one.
