BracU student to take part in Huawei Seeds for the Future 2024

Mohammad Fasiul Abedin Khan (Junior,EEE) has demonstrated tenacity and creativity throughout the national rounds of Huawei Seeds for the future of 2024. This program provides students the opportunity to delve into the industry of innovation and entrepreneurship. Through his performance, he has shown the importance of hard work and resilience in overcoming initial fears to thrive in a competitive program. Khan shared his thoughts and experiences leading up to the regional round, which will be held on September 20th in China.

Khan and 50 students were shortlisted during the preliminary round through interviews and CV assessments. The first round, with six teams, included more interviews, mock presentations, and intensive courses on topics like AI and cloud computing. As team leader, Khan had to guide his group while managing his Spring 2024 final exams. He faced the challenge of leading and managing his team, struggling to balance multiple meetings and address everyone’s concerns.

Another challenge was developing innovative ideas. “Every idea seemed like it had already been done,” Fasiul admitted, describing his struggle to develop something unique for his team. Eventually, he figured his ideas had to be sustainable and essential to human needs. He showcased two ideas: an at-home water quality monitoring system (1st round) and using machine learning for fish farming issues (2nd round). These ideas propelled him to the regional round, highlighting his ingenuity.

The experience enhanced his soft skills, allowed him to meet many people and forged long-lasting friendships. For students who are interested in applying for the program, he advised “Treat this as a competition.” His words reflect the intensity of competing not just with other teams but also with multiple universities across Bangladesh. As Khan prepares for the regional round, we can only wish him good luck.
