BracU Team Earns Bangladesh’s Sole Honour at WICO 2026
From July 16th to 18th, the World Invention Creativity Olympiad (WICO) 2026 was held in Seoul, South Korea, with more than 400 teams from over 30 countries participating. Team Automorph emerged as the only team from Bangladesh to have won the Award of Excellence. Comprising two BracU students: Ezhar Hossain Ifty (Junior, EEE) and Fardin Ahmed (Junior, EEE), Team Automorph won this prestigious award, notably alongside the gold medals, for their project, AgriMorph V2.0. The WICO is an annual international invention competition that attempts to showcase student-led innovations in science and technology, bringing together thousands of students, researchers, and young inventors from around the world every year.

AgriMorph V2.0 is a smart agricultural system that consists of an offline data transmission, a dedicated server, an automated backup protocol, and AI-based weather prediction, thereby ensuring reliability and continuity of operation. The members shared that the idea of an offline data transmission system, which was the centerpiece of Team Automorph’s project, came to mind when they noticed how many promising projects in the past had failed to make it due to issues regarding internet costs and connectivity.
“It was a deeply rewarding feeling to have been the only Bangladeshi team out of nine to win the Award of Excellence”, said Ifty. He also mentioned that interacting with participants from different countries revealed how they can avail huge opportunities in their countries for conducting research to improve their projects’ effectiveness under real-world constraints, hence elevating their projects from being mere ideas to practical, workable solutions. Ifty reflects that a major takeaway from their achievement was that locally developed technology has the potential to compete and succeed internationally.
For now, Ifty and Ahmed want to use this momentum to advance their project, AgriMorph V2.0, to create impactful, scalable solutions from their research that could propel the agricultural technology forwards.
