Resonance launches their newest issue “New Beginnings”
Resonance, Brac University’s bilingual creative journal, launched their latest issue on March 6th. The program took place at the Exhibition Gallery. In attendance were Dr. David Dowland (Registrar, BracU) and Dr. Firdous Azim (Chairperson, ENH). The event saw moving speeches by these figures, as well as one by chief guest Professor Afsan Chowdhury. The speeches were followed by recitations from the journal, musical performances, and a magic show named ‘Believe It or Not’.

One of the oldest members of the student team, Ananya Das (Senior, ENH), oversaw much of the preparations leading up to the launch. She reflected, “The journey up to the launching was overwhelming at times, but the appreciation from friends, faculty members, and contributors made it all worthwhile.” The launch itself was a long time coming, as work on this edition began last year, right after the culmination of the student movement.

This issue focused on the July uprising, showcasing short stories, essays, poems, photographs, and artworks related to the revolt, rightfully earning its theme “New Beginnings.”. For the first time ever, submissions were open not only to the rest of the country but the whole world. Contributions came in from countries like Pakistan and the UK. Additionally, Bookworm Bangladesh sponsored the launch and the printing of the journal itself. This allowed many of the contributors to leave the launch with copies of the journal. However, hard copies of this issue can be found in Bookworm stores, or anyone can access the soft copy on the ENH website!
