On October 22nd, BRAC University Business Club – BIZBEE launched BIZVERSE 2025, their flagship national business communication competition, with an engaging workshop for the first round, focusing on elevator pitch and ideation led by Mr. Zaved Parvez (life coach and CEO of Restart Yourself). With over two decades of experience, including 18 years at Robi Axiata and certifications from institutions like Franklin Covey Co. USA and Harvard Business Publishing. Zaved Parvez guided participants through the core requirements of the first round of the competition. The workshop provided deep insights into “Lean Startup” principles and innovation, encouraging students to use the “Javelin Board” method to identify problems and the “Business Model Canvas” to structure their solutions. He emphasized the importance of talking to customers to validate ideas and the necessity of “pivoting” when a solution isn’t required. He stressed that in an elevator pitch, the majority of the time should be spent explaining the “conflict” (the problem statement) before presenting the resolution. He stated, “Whether it is the ‘big idea’ or not will be decided by the customers; therefore, focus on your specifics before making projections.”

Beyond the technical aspects, Mr. Parvez shared anecdotes and wisdom on life and business, highlighting the power of storytelling in an effective pitch using the four signposts: setting, character, conflict, and resolution. Reflecting on the session, Tasnim Mubasshira Sukanna (Freshmen, BBS) commented, “The workshop was really insightful, helping us prepare the elevator pitch for the first round. His insights were profound in how they relate to business and life as well, which went beyond this BIZVERSE.”
