In conversation with Professor Syed Ferhat Anwar: A man in excellence
In an exclusive interview with BracU Express, the honorable Vice-Chancellor, Professor Syed Ferhat Anwar, sat down and shared with us the trajectory of his journey, and his visions with our very own university. Both his academic and professional portfolio knows no bounds with countless publications and prior positions. He identified the challenges of education in our country, reflecting on his experience with both private and public institutes, identifying how they both have something to learn from each other. Having had the privilege of working with our founder, Sir Fazle Hasan Abed, Professor Anwar recalls how the practice of self-reliance, or sustainability as we know it today, was preached by Sir Fazle long before it gained the prevalence it currently has now. Professor Anwar, unlike his predecessors, wishes to integrate the university more into the ecosystem of BRAC as a whole, using its reputation to garner in partnerships beyond borders and inducing prestige. Despite the challenges he faced in this role, Professor Anwar’s visions remain steadfast amidst the bureaucratic challenges while navigating the political sensitivity ever present in Bangladesh. And for the student he only had one thing to say:
“Place your university and your country first rather than your beliefs first.”
BracU Express thanks the honorable Vice-Chancellor for generously sharing his time and insights. Watch the full interview on BracU Express’s YouTube channel.
