BracU debaters excel at AUW IV 2026

On 31st January, at the Asian University for Women Intra-Varsity Debate Championship 2026, BracU’s very own showed their excellence through both adjudication and debating panels. Nahiyan Yasser Chowdhury (CS, Junior)  and Tashfiah Hasan’s (EEE, Junior) team, “BRAC W(E ARE NOT BREAKING)”, ensured the position of the 7th Open Breaking Team, while naming Open Semi Finalists. Reflecting on their journey, Nahiyan said, “The break announcement was unforgettable-after gruelling rounds, qualifying for open semi-finals was an exhilarating experience.” and mentioned that preparing with his teammate moulded their journey. He strongly urged others to explore debating and to actively seek growth challenges by competing.

In the Novice Division, Prothoma Banerjee (ESS, Sophomore) won Best Novice Speaker while Kishoar Tahia Mazumder Aabha (SLS, Sophomore)  took the position of 2nd Best Novice Speaker. Representing BracU as team BRAC UP, they reached the Novice Finals as the 1st Novice Breaking Team in the tournament, an outstanding accomplishment. Kishoar described her journey as transformative and deeply personal while confessing how she and her teammate went in with only enthusiasm to push them through without any idea of how far they would go. On the other hand, Prothoma termed her journey a thrilling learning experience.

At the adjudication front, Sharaf Ahmed (CSE, Sophomore) successfully portrayed the position of the Breaking Adjudicator. Aonkita Dey (ESS, Senior) represented BracU in the Adjudication Core, to which she shared, “After a two-year break, AUW IV 2026 returned as a vibrant debating platform, and being part of it as a Core Adjudicator was deeply fulfilling.” AUW IV 2026 was a proud moment for all debaters and adjudicators. They look to the future with confidence, aiming to take BracU’s legacy even further.
