School of Law students claim the title of the National round of Jessup Moot Court 2025
The Ninth Bangladesh Qualifying Rounds of the Philip C. Jessup International Law Moot Court Competition 2025 were held on the American International University—Bangladesh (AIUB) premises from February 6th to 9th. Team BRAC University, comprising third-year law students Mahia Rahman, Nasreen Alam, and Syed Abdullah Jabeer, emerged as the tournament champions after competing against representatives of 44 universities. They have been selected to represent Bangladesh in the 2025 White & Case Jessup International Rounds, which will be held, in person, on 29 March – 5 April 2025 at the Hyatt Regency Hotel in Washington, DC, USA.
Jessup is the largest moot court competition in the world, where over 700 schools participate each year, with only a single team participating from each school. As told on the official website, “The competition is a simulation of a fictional dispute between countries before the International Court of Justice, the judicial organ of the United Nations.” The national qualifying rounds of Jessup were the largest moot court competition in the country’s history, and for the first time, Brac University has been crowned champions.
This is a monumental achievement for the University School of Law. All eyes will be on Team BRAC University in the international rounds.
