Memento or a new chapter: How BracU master’s students manoeuvre life
The graduate program at BracU is a commitment to academic excellence and the significance of learning. Being a Master’s student here requires an intersection of academics and real-world applications. Many refer to their graduate studies as “living a dual life” as they have to constantly waver between merging classrooms, assignments, workplaces, responsibilities, and meticulously strengthening their future.
In reality, the shift from an undergraduate to a Master’s program at Brac University is a deep expansion of one’s education and perception of work life. Undergraduate education comes with its freedom of exploration, whereas a focused approach to specialisation marks a graduate degree. Explaining the leap between the two sectors, Abdul Haider Lasker (Postgraduate, MBA) expressed, “Even though I had more flexibility during my undergraduate years, I am much more intentional with my schedule as a Master’s student.”
Every year, numerous students choose BracU for their Master’s studies because of its strong reputation and a curriculum which emulates the modern workplace. Moreover, as the university offers evening classes, it helps students balance their daily routine between professional and academic lives. Students find it more convenient than traditional day classes. Furthermore, the campus presents an enticing ambience which helps them engage in intellectual discussions, as Maliha Suhrawardy Katha (Postgraduate, MDS) depicts it, “The campus has a calm but focused atmosphere at night. Also, graduate students are often found attending classes, studying, and exchanging ideas, which creates a productive learning environment”.
Explaining the return for Master’s as a Brac University graduate, Niloy Ahsan (Postgraduate, CSE) shared that he reminisces about his undergraduate days, especially walking around the campus; however, he now views it with more maturity and purpose. Meanwhile, students arriving from other universities find themselves in a diverse environment, where they are intrigued by how lectures are turned into engaged learning by both the teachers and peers who bring real industry experience in their conversations.
A Master’s degree from BracU not only helps students reach their academic goals but also lets them determine what they plan to pursue in the long run. Abdul added that students here are urged to progress from purely technical jobs to more “ethical and leadership positions” by being given access to a variety of perspectives from experts. Advising incoming master’s Students, Niloy shared, “They should be prepared for a challenging but rewarding journey and take advantage of networking opportunities, while actively participating in all classes to get the most out of this experience”. By successfully balancing their work and academics, these learners contribute to making the university a resource for the next era, while learning new approaches to flourish in their careers.
