A spring serenade: BracU celebrates Boshonto with colours
On February 18th, the Brac University Film Club (BUFC) and Brac University MONON (BUMONON) joined hands to welcome spring with the programme বসন্ত এসে গেছে, as the colours of Falgun greeted us again.
The programme started in the auditorium as organising teams welcomed the audience with a screening of Unish 20, a Bangladeshi OTT film directed by Mizanur Rahman Aryan. Through the heartwarming story of Shila and Apu, they shared a story of youth, love, and friendship that resonated with most students. Tahmid Rahman Labib (Junior, CSE) described the movie as “quite enjoyable”.

The celebration transitioned into a lively cultural segment following the screening. The spirit of Spring carried on with group performances of the evergreen songs এমনযদি হতো and বকুল ফুল. As the audience sang along with performers, the venue filled up with joy, marking a lively end to the scheduled performances before the intermission. The hosts began a special open stage portion after the break, inviting celebrators to perform voluntarily. Live performances of songs like মেঘ বলেছে যাব যাব ,অলির কথা শুনে and a beautiful portrayal of এতোটা ভালোবাসি by Prantar Das Anoy (Assistant manager, OCSAR) were among the highlights. The performers delivered wonderfully despite having no preparation, making it one of the most unforgettable portions of the programme.
The event reached an end with presentations of Protik Pramanik and Zakia Moon dancing to Slipping Through My Fingers and রঙ্গবতী, followed by Srestha Hasan harmonising withবেঁচে থাকার গান, concluding a day filled with vibrancy and celebration. Throughout the day, students wholeheartedly immersed themselves in the festivities, dressed in vibrant clothing, exchanging flowers, and taking pictures. Laughter echoed across the campus, and that shared joy embodied the essence of Falgun.
