BracU duo rallies to glory at Table Tennis Fest

The sports community of the university cheers as Sanjida Ahmed (Senior, CSE) and Tasmiah Huda (Senior, CS) bring second and third runners-up accolades from the Inter-University Table Tennis Fest 2026. The event was held on February 16th and 17th at the Shaheed Tajuddin Ahmed Indoor Stadium, hosted by the Bangladesh Table Tennis Federation (BTTF).

The tournament welcomed 174 male and 48 female competitors from 36 universities, including players ranked nationally. The women’s category only participated in the singles event, whereas the male players could participate in both the singles and team events. The female participants were divided into 8 groups, each playing best-of-five sets in every match, with matches ending at 11 points. The best two players from each group were selected and had to compete for the coveted “Elite and Plate” in intense matches. Describing her experience, Sanjida reflected, “I realised that it was crucial for me to remain composed under pressure, while my teammate’s encouragement gave me the bravery to take on the opposition. Overall, the competition highlighted the dedication and teamwork we committed to.”

Tasmiah expressed, “Competing against national players felt unreal and overwhelming in the best way. Finishing as the 3rd runner-up is really encouraging for me, and it made me realise this is just the beginning. I’m excited to see what’s next.” This tournament was a significant step for table tennis in Bangladesh, providing exposure for the sport, especially for female athletes, with an impressive turnout in this inaugural event, exclusively tailored for universities under the federation.
