BracU goes green at SustainWell 2026
On February 6th, Dr Jebunnesa Chowdhury (Associate Professor, SLS), accompanied by her students Washima Ghoni (Senior, SLS) and Nazifa Jebunnesa Jabin (Senior, SLS), attended the prestigious international academic conference named “SustainWell 2026” held in Malaysia, arranged by INTI International University under the theme of “Innovation Science for Sustainable Living and Community Wellness”.
Washima presented her research, Isolation and Characterisation of Rhizobium Isolates from Root Nodules, and shared her experience at the conference, explaining, “The main goal of our study was identifying potential Rhizobium that could be introduced as a biofertiliser, significantly reducing the usage of the harmful traditional fertilisers that are generally used.” Nazifa’s research, Isolation and Characterisation of Sinorhizobium spp. from the Field of Lablab Niger, Local Bean, also reflected her interest in sustainable agriculture and environmentally friendly solutions. She shared, “My goal was to contribute to research that can help farmers increase legume production while protecting soil health and the environment. The international audience responded very positively to my research work presentation!”
Beyond their academics, research, and presentations, Washima and Nazifa enthusiastically took their research to the international stage, presenting work that contributes meaningfully to sustainable agriculture. They reflected, “The experience was inspiring and insightful, which could not have been possible without the constant support and guidance from our supervisor throughout the entire journey.” ”.
Dr Jebunnesa supervised both the research projects at BracU’s plant lab facilities, guiding students to step into the international research community and showing the need for support by students to develop sustainable practices while achieving their learning goals. These international academic conferences serve as essential platforms for scholars to build global research networks and gain international visibility.
