BracU graduates shine on Shark Tank Bangladesh

Stepping into the limelight and presenting groundbreaking visions on the worldwide renowned business reality show Shark Tank is a dream for many startups regardless of its size. Shark Tank Bangladesh premiered its first season in April this year, featuring startups of our own graduates and students, mainly from the CSE department. This is a badge of honor, inspiring innovation and courage to take risks along the journey of many successes and failures.

‘Roboway Labs’ team Arifin Ahmed Rafi, Mahbub Ul Haque, Sihab Sahriar and Ratul Hasan presented Bangladesh’s first industrial humanoid, PIXI 1.0 & 2.0. Its distinctive features allows it to speak, provide information, verify face, manage attendance and similar attributes, most of which are self developed, making it a perfect candidate for places like visa centers, information desks at hotels etc. With revenue of approximately 5.5 lakh taka, they have other tech services, and their appearance has led to an offer from the ICT ministry and foster good networks despite the challenges they faced. They plan to enter fields like agro-tech and the RMG sector with exciting projects coming soon.

‘Dubotech’ presented by Nayem Hossain Saikat, Zihadul Karim Xenon, Sayantan Roy and Soumik Hasan Shranto, is a tech company that started from the creation of the first autonomous underwater vehicle (AUV) in Bangladesh. Nayem Hossain and Sayantan Roy were also the former members of BRACU Duburi. Such state-of-the-art technology has the answer to explore depths of the ocean whilst providing solutions for the marine industry with features like durability, enduring battery, easy control panel, auto generated report etc. They have also collaborated with giants like Robi Axiata and Walton.

 ‘Stick On’ by Nisorgo Islam, Asif Shahriar and Samiul Basir is a print-on-demand company, making them the first to introduce customized phone cases in Bangladesh in 2015. Their products include customized stickers, phone cases, T-shirts, MacBook cases etc. With more than 1 crore taka revenue so far, they have also managed to get a proposal from the judges of 15 lakh taka investment in return for a 20% share and a period of 18 months to return 5 lakhs in royalties. Their goal is to soon become the market leader in this industry.

These startups have not only impressed the judges but also garnered significant investments and partnerships. This platform has become a testament to the spirit of innovation and entrepreneurship, inspiring future generations to dream big and take bold steps in the journey of success.
