BracU students wins Sheikh Jamal Innovation Grant 2024
On May 12th, 2024 Team Dipto- a group of five students including Md Mountashiour Rahman (Sophomore EEE), Nahid Ahmed Shihab(Senior, EEE), Prapty Majumdar Golpa (Junior,EEE), Farhan Noor Showrov (Senior, EEE) and Muntaha Majed Chowdhury (Sophomore, EEE), won a Tk 1 lakh grant with their project focused on educational technologies. The squad was guided by their advisor and the lecturer of EEE department, Abdulla Hil Kafi. The grant was presented by Zunaid Ahmed Palak who is the State Minister for Information and Communication Technology (ICT).
The event was organized by the DRMC IT Club, and it was their 7th DRMC International Tech Carnival. At first, the innovation grant was set to 4 stages of selection among 200 startup ideas to top 13 based on their pitch deck presentation. From there, Team Dipto emerged as one of the top five teams who have received the grant from a renowned project under Bangladesh Computer Council of the ICT Division.
A prototype of a user-friendly, DIY STEAM (science, technology, engineering, arts, and mathematics) kit was shared by Team Dipto. This kit can teach enthusiasts or students alike how to build robots, satellites, and other gadgets by providing information on everything from circuits to coding.
To add additional interaction and fun to the learning sessions, the team is now working on a game. Additionally, they are developing a nanosatellite training kit, which is a comprehensive overview covering all levels of engineering and giving students insights into space engineering. The advisor Abdulla Hil Kafi assures, “Team ‘Dipto’ has the potential to make a significant impact in the field of educational technology and developing the next generation of engineers and innovators making STEM instruction more accessible and enjoyable.”
