BracU partners with FICAC to promote international collaboration
On January 31st, Brac University partnered with the World Federation of Consuls (FICAC), a global network of consuls, through signing a Memorandum of Understanding (MoU). This partnership aims to create opportunities for both institutions to engage in collaborative approaches towards knowledge sharing in the domains of international studies.
The MoU, which came into effect on 1st of February, was formalised at the university’s Merul Badda campus, with delegates from both institutions being present at the signing ceremony. On behalf of Brac University, the MoU was signed jointly by Professor Syed Ferhat Anwar (Vice Chancellor, BracU), Ariful Islam (Treasurer, BracU), and Dr David Dowland (Registrar, BracU). FICAC was represented by Nikolaos K. Margaropoulos (President, FICAC), Aykut Eken (President Emeritus, FICAC), and Asif A. Chowdhury (Vice President, FICAC). Fatma Gönül Oray-Eken (Board member of directors and honorary consul, FICAC, St. Kitts and Nevis) also attended the event.
The partnership promises to strengthen cooperation in international relations by exchanging scholarly information, teaching, and research between the institutions, creating channels for deeper engagement between Brac University and global networks. Under this agreement, numerous plans for joint seminars, conferences, workshops, and professional visits are to be made to facilitate the objective. FICAC is expected to help introduce Brac University’s postgraduate programmes in different countries, while the university will promote FICAC’s work among its students and alumni.
For students, this partnership points to a future with stronger international connections, broader exposure, and more opportunities to engage with global conversations beyond the classroom.
