BUCHC team ranks 7th at NDCC National Chess Carnival
The Notre Dame Chess Club hosted a two-day chess contest titled “The 7th NDCC National Chess Carnival” from the 27th to the 28th of May. More than 450 students from several institutions across the country competed in this tournament. Two teams from the BRAC University Chess Club (BUCHC), each consisting of four players, participated among 24 teams. In the team chess competition, both teams were able to place within the top ten teams.
The team members of Team-1, Anata Choudhury (MNS, Junior), Sarowar H. Mishkat, Mohammad Shakil (EEE, Senior), Abdullah Al Muhit (CSE, Senior) and Mohammad Shakil secured first place in the competition. They earned 11 points by winning 5 games and drawing 1 out of the 6 games. Continuing into the 2nd tie-breaker round, they obtained 20 points, leading to victory.
Team-2 scored 7 points in the first round by winning two games and drawing three. The team then received 13 points in the second tie-breaker round before earning 1 point in the third, placing them 9th in the competition.
BUCHC members’ triumphant victory at the 7th NDCC National Chess Carnival is another of the club’s many notable achievements. With this achievement within its credit, BUCHC shows excellent promise to achieve more in the future.
