Team Slytherin’s film with the title “Showcasing the Enduring Lifestyle of Workers on tea estates in Sreemangal” emphasized the need for better wages and working conditions for tea estate workers, advocating for comfort and dignity in their profession. The three-minute documentary which was both engaging and factual, was certainly a challenge. According to the team members, one of the challenges was having access to the tea estate workers and coordinating with them. On this note, Fahim (one of the awardees) said, “Interviewing them and the local residents was important to gain insights into their lives, ensuring their voices were the core of the narrative.” The team divided tasks according to individual strengths, such as some focused on editing, filming and others on narrating. By working together and conducting thorough research, they crafted their piece with the hope that their impactful message would increase the odds of winning. Team Slytherin’s dedication to their project not only won them first place but also brought attention to a crucial societal issue.
