Mastering the Art of Impactful Presentations with Rafsan Sabab
On October 27, 2024, the BRAC University Business Club (BIZ BEE) held an engaging workshop titled “Presentation for Attention” at BRAC University for the inter-university Business Case Competition “BIZVERSE.” Renowned host and media personality Rafsan Sabab led the session, captivating attendees with his insights on mastering presentation techniques. The event began with a warm introduction from BIZ BEE’s club advisor, Sayla Sowat Siddique (Assistant Professor), who highlighted the significance of effective communication in business.
The workshop entailed equipping university students with practical skills for presenting and pitching ideas to captivate the audiences, crucial for case competitions and business communication. Sabab emphasized the importance of engaging audiences, particularly judges, by tailoring strategies to each presentation round. He introduced Simon Sinek’s Golden Circle framework—Why-How-What—illustrating how starting with “why” can connect emotionally with listeners. Sabab also discussed identifying and communicating core problems before presenting solutions that resonate deeply with potential investors. According to Sabab, “Being genuine and authentic in your delivery is essential to standing out and truly connecting with your audience.” Participants gained hands-on experience through interactive exercises, learning to balance genuine communication with strategic storytelling.
Srijon (Juniors, CSE) shared his experience, “The workshop taught me how to build strong brands, pitch effectively, and capture investors’ interest. Thanks to Rafsan Sabab for providing such an insightful experience that boosted my confidence and equipped me with strategies for the upcoming ‘BIZVERSE’ Competition.” A BIZ BEE club member added, “We launched this event to fill a gap in business competitions by focusing on the essential skill of business communication.”
