Patriotic Poems Uniting Voices at RS

On 15th September, a second ‘আবৃত্তি আড্ডা’ (recitation gathering) was organized at the Residential Semester of Summer 2024. Keeping in mind the current circumstances, the topic was দেশপ্রেমের কবিতা (poems of patriotism). Inspired and encouraged by Dr. Samia Huq, the Dean of the School of General Education, the keynote speaker was the Assistant Dean, Dr. Tahseen H. Ali, accompanied by the primary mediators of the gathering, Dr. Nemai Mondal, Associate Professor of Bangla, and Rejaul Karim Raju, Lecturer of Bangla. Many students, teachers and staff members participated in the gathering and turned it into a joyous occasion where everybody had the equal opportunity to demonstrate their recitation abilities. Students were welcomed with flowers. After each recitation, Dr. Nemai Mondal discussed where students may have gone wrong, and what areas need improvement. He also talked about the importance of speaking in standard Bengali, the pronunciation, the tone, emotions, expressions and body language. That the students are able to overcome their fear of Bengali and embrace their mother tongue without reservations, was the objective of the discussion and owing to a good number of students being interested, the gathering turned out to be a hit.
