Aysha Abed Library: an underrated treasure of Brac University
Solitude can never be overestimated and when it comes to the day-to-day pressures of a university student, it is essential for them to find solitude within all the chaos. Here, the Ayesha Abed Library comes to the rescue when a student wants to sit around in a peaceful environment and let loose.
The Ayesha Abed Library provides access to a wide range of academic and research materials to support the educational needs of the university community. It houses an extensive collection of books, journals, research papers, theses, dissertations, and other scholarly resources across various disciplines. Apart from all these, students use the library to escape the hustle and bustle of the university. The Ayesha Abed Library provides them with a tranquil environment like no other. They can go to the library to seek refuge from the heat, noise, and crowd and spend some time immersed in silence. Nahian Khan (Sophmore, BBS) says, “I often go to the library to hide from the crowd and release a huge sigh of relief. I cannot endure loud environments for too long and the library is like my Fortress of Solitude.”
In addition to that, the Ayesha Abed Library never disappoints when one is looking for some intellectually engaging sources of entertainment. It carries a large collection of poetry, novels, and short stories in both Bangla and English. As a result, students can spend hours engrossed in the world of literary wonder at the expense of barely anything. Bushra Abdul Kaliq (Sophmore, LLB) expressed her delight about the library and says, “The library is sort of a safe haven for me because I can be by myself and do my assignments without standing out too much.”
To conclude, the Ayesha Abed Library plays a critical role in BracU students’ both academic and recreational needs. It caters to the students in multiple ways, making it undoubtedly one of the most integral parts of a BracU student’s university experience.
