Student to Faculty: Yamim Rashad Nawaz

In another episode of Student to Faculty, we are welcomed into the insightful mind of Yamim
Rashad Nawaz (Lecturer, ESS), who is passing on his knowledge of Economics in the very
classrooms where he once gained it.

Yamim sir completed both his undergraduate and master’s degree in Economics from Brac
University and University of Sydney respectively. After acquiring some work experience in the
corporate sector, the surge of young professors in Sydney and the inspiring working environment
in BracU acted as a catalyst for him to pursue the path of academia.

Now, as he stands next to the teachers who once taught him as colleagues, he is trying his best to
bring professionalism, stakeholder management and commitment to the world of teaching. He
finds economics very relatable and even encourages his students by saying, “If you understand
even a bit of economics, you’ll understand the world a bit better.”

To know more about his nostalgia upon coming back to BracU, his teaching techniques and
advice for students wanting to study abroad, make sure to check out the interview!
