ICCBM 2025 explores AI, innovation, and sustainability
The International Case Conference on Business and Management (ICCBM) 2025 took place on December 18th, organised by BRAC Business School (BBS) and Emerald Publishing. This year’s theme was ‘Rethinking Enterprise, Practice and Leadership in the Global South’. The event started at 10:30 am with the keynote address by Mr. Shariar Pavel (Global Executive & Thought Leader, Humanising Global Technology), discusses the real business world. Saif Hossain (Assistant Professor, BBS), expressed intent to make the ICCBM a bi-yearly event.
The event’s theme was reflected throughout the sessions, highlighting Bangladesh’s and the global community’s transition from smart to intelligent development through advanced AI technologies. Mr Kamran T. Rahman (Chairman, Metropolitan Chamber of Commerce and Industries), attended as the chief guest for the conference and spoke about the importance of ethical business development and how, in a country like Bangladesh, well-run businesses could contribute to monumental societal changes. Also in attendance as special guests were Professor Abdur Rab (Vice-Chancellor, International University of Business Agriculture and Technology), and Mr Syed Kaiser Kabir (CEO & Managing Director, Renata LTD), who spoke about changing times, the development in AI.

From 2:30 to 4:30 pm, 14 parallel sessions happened across classrooms and online, wherein students from different universities teamed up to study and present cases with strategic insights and solution-driven recommendations. In total, around 97 papers were submitted to the organising committee and out of those, after being internally and externally reviewed, 69 were accepted to be presented in sessions.
A standout feature of the parallel sessions was the active collaboration between Brac University students and faculty, which resulted in jointly authored papers to be submitted. It was the first time working with faculties for many students. Many described the experience as daunting, but also agreed that opportunities like these opened doors for students who are interested in academia as a career, interested in research or eager to learn how problems are solved in the real world.
