BRACU Dichari Triumphed as the only Asian team in ERL 2022
BRACU Dichari, one of the flagship projects designed by undergraduate students, recently qualified for the championship round of the European Robotics League (ERL) as the only team representing Asia. The group has achieved remarkable success on the robotics front of Bangladesh and is now receiving international acclaim for pushing the envelope.
ERL, one of the most prominent robotics competitions in the world, mainly focuses on participants’ ability to make robots that can navigate through real-life challenges and rescue operations. This year, Dichari had to compete against four other European teams for the Championship title and finally stood out as the fourth-best team earning the ‘Perseverance Award’ for their constant efforts. The ERL event was held in Poznań, Poland, from June 20th to 25th.
Since they decided to take part at the eleventh hour, BracU Dichari had faced several difficulties. They had to overcome a number of challenges, such as improving their drone, trouble operating the land rover, and even issues with some body parts of the drone itself. The name ‘Dichari’ is derived from the two types of robots the team currently has. As both the rover and the drone are intended for use in disaster zones, BracU Dichari aims to deploy their creation to assist rescue operations in the future.
