BracU hosts workshop to learn from excellence

On August 30th, the BRAC University Business Club – BIZ BEE hosted a workshop titled “Learn from the Champs” to help students excel in business case competitions. The event featured two distinguished guests who shared their insights and experiences, providing a comprehensive guide for aspiring participants.

The workshop’s main guest was Mr. Abir Ershad (Brand Executive, British American Tobacco) who is one of the most accomplished talents in business competitions. Mr.Ershad led an engaging and lively discussion on how to solve cases step-by-step, including core problem-solving strategies, idea generation, and financial planning. He also presented his own experiences with the famed Team Khichuri.

Round 2 of the workshop shifted the scene, getting the perspective of a judge. Guest speaker Sheikh Shoaib Mohammed Siddique (Head of Strategy & Business Management, Corporate & Institutional Banking, HSBC) discussed his career experiences and offered detailed suggestions on how judges evaluate teams. His advice covered crucial areas such as analyzing the case, ensuring creativity and feasibility, and delivering a confident, winning presentation. The workshop concluded with a short case-solving session, where participants had the opportunity to pitch their solutions to the guest judge and receive direct feedback.

 Safawat Gani (Senior, ESS) shared his thoughts on the session, stating, “Abir is someone who knows how to win business competitions because he has won these three major competitions. That’s why I was inspired to come here to listen to him.” He also added that the session was very effective and interactive, clearing up many of his problems.
