BURT successfully launches Project Hashimukh
During this sacred month of Ramadan, Brac University Response Team (BURT) launched Project Hashimukh to bring smiles to the faces of underprivileged people. Their initiative aimed to provide iftar, rations, and punjabis to vulnerable and impoverished communities.

The project took off with crowdfunding where donations were collected via cash and digital payment. With the funds, the club members purchased the necessary items for cooking iftar on March 13th. The next morning, iftars were prepared with the help of hired chefs while members carefully packed the food for distribution. A total of 677 food packets were prepared and distributed at Al-Nahiyan Orphanage, Baitus Suzud Jame Masjid, Jamia Islamia Talimul Quran Qawmi Madrasa, the old BracU campus in Mohakhali, and Airport Railway Station. On the 15th, the club members came together to distribute the rations. A total of 40 ration packets were distributed across Aftabnagar. On March 16th, BURT distributed Punjabis to orphans at Dawatul Quran Madrasa in Merul Badda as the final phase of this project. Md. Mejba Uddin (President, BURT) depicted, “Through collaboration and compassion, we turned a vision into reality, delivering not just food and essentials, but hope and dignity to the vulnerable communities we serve.”

As Md. Sayem Mottakee (General Secretary, BURT) shares, “In the spirit of Ramadan, Project Hashimukh brought together kindness and unity, proving that even small acts of generosity can make a big difference in the lives of those who need it most.” Indeed, this project responded to the constant denial and neglect of the fundamental rights of marginalized communities in our society.
