Honoring the excellence of Professor Mahbubul Alam Majumder

On January 17th, “Merul Badda Talks in Math & Physics” hosted a ceremony appreciating Professor Mahbubul Alam Majumder (Dean, SoDS) for receiving the “Ekushey Padak 2026” and the “Spirit of Salam Award 2026” from the Abdus Salam International Centre for Theoretical Physics (ICTP).

The event consisted of five segments of panel discussions surrounding the colleagues, friends, and family members of Professor Majumder sharing anecdotes and personal experiences with him, reflecting on the brilliance of his mind and the goodness of his heart. Professor Syed Ferhat Anwar (Vice Chancellor, BracU) remarked, “I met him one and a half years ago, and I always saw him to be a very simple person who is extremely good at heart.”

When asked about his feelings about the achievements, Professor Majumder commented, “I hope everyone will consider these awards to be their own. These awards come because of collective action, not because of one person. So it is a privilege for all of us. I hope everybody will really think this is their own award.”

One of the audience, Md. Shaharia Farhan Rony (Junior, Mathematics) reflected on the event, “The experience was great. I got to know how dedicated a person can be to their work by watching the videography. I learned to be humble when you achieve something big.”

A man, known by his family, colleagues, friends, and students as humble and kind, we only want to see Professor Mahbubul Alam Majumder soar through the sky in further achievements.
