Leadership defined by integrity: In a talk with Professor Arshad Mahmud Chowdhury

Professor Arshad Mahmud Chowdhury assumed the position of Pro-Vice-Chancellor at Brac University with a sense of purpose and a career characterised by a commitment to learning and calm determination. His journey, which has taken him from lecture halls in Bangladesh to research laboratories in the United States and ultimately back home, is not only a story of his academic advancement. It is a narrative of discovering a broader perspective and a greater sense of responsibility.

People who have worked closely with him often describe him as someone who listens attentively, thinks deeply, and follows through on his words. His ideology believes that institutions are built by the people, as much as by techniques and policies.

In an exclusive interview with BracU Express, Professor Chowdhury expressed that, to him, progress is about creating an environment for students where they feel encouraged, challenged, and motivated to develop, rather than mere growth and recognition.

As he takes on his new role, his goals remain very clear: to promote integrity, teamwork, and a shared sense of purpose. And his advice for students is straightforward yet personal:

To follow their chosen path with all their heart, dedicating the time, attention, and sincerity it deserves.

BracU Express thanks the honorable Pro-Vice-Chancellor for generously sharing his time and insights. Watch the full interview on BracU Express’s YouTube channel.
