Rodosee Hoque
Human and animal relationship is a mysterious exploration. There are few who love them enough to call them ‘kids’. Rodosee Hoque (Sophomore, ESS) is such a soul who finds purpose in life with animals. She works with the Dhaka University animal welfare team. They treat street animals, provide shelters and feed routinely.
“ I cannot remember a time when I didn’t feel connected to animals.” In 2021, she met Tasnim in a vet clinic. And offered further help. Thus started her journey in the team. “Tasnim apu trained me into every one of the works. Eventually I learned and got more involved.” Rodosee grew up watching her sister in animal welfare. “My sister was my biggest support. She was the one from whom I learned about working in animal welfare.” She always got support from friends, some of them joining in this venture.

This journey comes with challenges. “Losing the kids is the biggest challenge of all. For an animal parent in this world, it means experiencing the suffering and death of them.” She shared a heartbreaking story of when she found Moti ( a dog) in dumps with her eyes rolling after cruel people fed her bleaching powder. She stayed with her at the vet till midnight. But Rodosee’s love couldn’t save Moti.
Knowing ‘kids’ are well fed and safe makes her grateful. “কালিকে মুরগির পা না দিলে অভিমান করবে কিন্তু”, – Portrays how each animal holds special place in her heart. She believes humans should think of animals as living beings, not objects and learn to live with them.
“People need to understand, the world isn’t only ours, but theirs too”
Rodosee wants to make BracU a safe place for animals. She wills counseling people about animal welfare. “I want them to realize that animals are the safest company one could have.” She has also started working in ‘Prani Kalyan Samiti’. Rodosee dreams to break malpractices like animal slavery. She wishes to work on animal rights laws and activism.
