Valkyrie League pioneers women in sports
Football Club of Brac University (FCBU) recently hosted the second season of the Valkyrie League (BUVL), a female football tournament, bringing together six university clubs in a competitive and spirited event. The tournament was presented by Savoy Ice-Cream and powered by Uttara Motors.
This season, the league followed a format that was unique from other intra-university competitions with six teams participating. Students from different clubs registered individually and were later picked up by club managers through bidding sessions. This system added variety and excitement to the competition, ensuring diverse squads and creating opportunities for students to collaborate and build connections beyond their own clubs.

One of the chief organizers, Asraful Alam Rafin (Senior, BBA), stated that the main purpose of the event was to provide the female footballers of BracU a platform to showcase their talent and indulge in the sport they love. In his words, “Beyond the sport itself, the tournament aimed to promote empowerment, encourage leadership, and build a stronger network among students across different university clubs.”
Throughout the tournament, players displayed grit and delivered exciting and entertaining performances. After a nail-biting final, Brac University Response Team (BURT) emerged as the victor. BUMONON and Brac University Computer Club (BUCC) claimed the next two spots. Eshat Fareeha (Senior, CSE) was awarded player of the tournament for her remarkable performance. All the games were played with passion and masterful sportsmanship, which inspired the audience.
