BRACU’s Navid Rahman brings Bangladesh Sports Olympiad 2026 home
On 6th September at Bangladesh Textile University (BUTEX), Md. Navid Rahman (Sophomore, CSE) has made his lifelong love for sports a big success by clinching the top championship at the first-ever Bangladesh Sports Olympiad 2026.
Navid’s actual journey started long ago. He had been a keen follower of sports from a very young age, building his knowledge through years of reading newspapers, tracking statistics, and keeping up with global sports. To compete against the brightest contenders from 10 leading universities across the country, he completely relied on his well-accumulated knowledge rather than cramming at the last minute.
“I was quite busy with my academics, so I relied on the knowledge and experience I had built over the years,” Navid shared, depicting how steady curiosity can surpass conventional preparation.
The most challenging moment arrived during the final tiebreaker. Among the loud cheers from the crowd and the nerve-wracking tension he experienced, Navid kept his focus. To him, prize money was just the icing on the cake, but the real prize was the genuine enthusiasm and warm reception he received from BRACU’s community. “When my name was finally announced as the winner, the way they celebrated was something I will cherish for the rest of my life,” Navid reflected.

Offering a final word of encouragement to the students who are passionate about sports and willing to participate in similar competitions, Navid advised, “Follow the sports you genuinely enjoy, stay curious, believe in yourself, and when you get the stage, own the moment.” His success shows how childhood passion and dedication can shine on a national stage.
