Casa Milan architect Fabio Novembre visits Brac University
On March 31st, Brac University’s School of Architecture and Design (SoAD) hosted renowned Italian designer and architect Fabio Novembre, in collaboration with the Embassy of Italy in Dhaka, as part of their observance of Italian Design Day 2026, to deliver a lecture. Novembre, who has been named the ambassador of Italian Design for Bangladesh in 2026, is known for his work, including the Lamborghini Museum and the famous Casa Milan, AC Milan’s Headquarters.
During his lecture, Novembre delved into the many aspects of architecture and how they relate to individuality. He emphasised how educational institutions should nurture the unique qualities of each individual and support them in discovering their strengths. When asked about Artificial Intelligence, Novembre made a point to highlight creativity once more. He explained how AI should not be a substitute for the creativity a person can bring and that people should rely on their own strengths to identify and solve different problems.

Through his works, Novembre showed how designs can be used as tools to convey feelings, aspirations, and identity. He encouraged students to draw inspiration from life. “It was a very unique and refreshing experience for all of us. He spoke to us as both an architect and an artist, highlighting how both can be blended in designing,” conveyed Athena Rahman (Teaching Assistant, SoAD).
The Italian Ambassador to Dhaka, Antonio Alessandro, was also present during the visit. Alessandro reflected on how the Italian Design Day initiative aims to highlight design and architecture as tools to address infrastructural challenges, addressing this year’s theme, “RE-DESIGN: regenerating spaces, objects, ideas, and relations”. During their tour around the campus, both Novembre and Alessandro regarded BracU’s sustainable architectural design as groundbreaking. They were accompanied by Professor Syed Ferhat Anwar (Vice-Chancellor, BracU), who shared BracU’s vision and mission to trailblaze in the Global South. Novembre’s lecture was part of the university’s ongoing Angon lecture series that invites architects, designers, and creatives to inspire students and help them learn.
