Probing the perimeters of mathematical physics at SoDS research colloquium

On February 24th, the School of Data and Sciences (SoDS) hosted an insightful seminar titled “Bosonic Free-Field Representations of Conformal Field Theories” by Md Abdullah Al Hasib Sifat (Postgraduate, Lomonosov Moscow State University) under the series “Merul Badda Talks in Math and Physics”.

Md Abdullah Al Hasib Sifat is pursuing his master’s in Geometry & Quantum Fields at Lomonosov Moscow State University, Russia. From competing in national olympiads to high-level research collaborations with leading physicists, and a Bachelor’s degree in Applied Mathematics and Physics from Moscow Institute of Physics and Technology (MIPT), Russia, he was the perfect guide to navigate the audience through the mathematical perspectives of physics.

The session was about bosonic free-field realisations and Virasoro conformal field theory, presenting the attendees an in-depth analysis into how the application of these theoretical frameworks operates for comprehending intricate correlation functions.

This session discussed the model written by Wess Zumino as an example, in order to explain how mathematical physics is constantly progressing by putting emphasis on currently existing problems and its correlation with modern science. To delve deeper, participants asked various questions.

Syeda Tasnuva Jahan (Lecturer, MNS), one of the organisers, remarked, “After a long break, it was rewarding to restart our ‘Math & Physics’ series with such a technically rich and intellectually stimulating talk.”

The steady development of “Merul Badda Talks in Math & Physics” shows the dedication this initiative has towards making an academically enriching place. Academic enthusiasts, with this successful reintroduction, can be sure of more of such conversations regarding mathematics and physics in the future.
