BracU hosts first ever PUBG competition
On August 4th, the grand finale of the PUBG Mobile Campus Club (PMCC), Bangladesh’s first-ever PUBG MOBILE LAN event sponsored by Infinix took place at our very own multipurpose hall. Co-hosted by the Brac University Esports Club (BUESC) and InGame Esports, the event saw 16 universities from across Bangladesh compete.
The day kicked off with a trophy unveiling ceremony, followed by remarks from Imran Hossain Alvi (Country Director, Tencent Gaming). He emphasized the rapid rise of esports, stating, “Esports is outgrowing traditional sports in popularity and likability. This is a significant moment that proves gaming is not just a waste of time.” He also pointed out esports’ growing presence in the Olympics and Asian Games as evidence of its global rise.

Vikum Jayasekera (Director, InGame Entertainment) further highlighted the career prospects within esports, saying, “Even winning a medal can secure a professional career for players.” Dr. David Dowland (Registrar, BracU) echoed similar sentiments, stating, “Esports is encouraged just as much as any real-life sport. The effort and collaboration required are appreciated in both fields.”

After fierce competition, Team PX ESPORTS from Shanto Mariam University of Creative Technology emerged as champions, with Umbrella Canteen CS6 from American International University Bangladesh taking second place, and SEUxNORMIES from South East University securing third position. Nafish Ahmed Mugdho, known as SYNIX in-game, won the MVP award, while Northern University Bangladesh’s Team NUB earned the “Most Popular University Award”.
The event was a significant step forward for esports in Bangladesh, proving that gaming is also a competitive and respected sport.
