Student to Faculty: Shehzad M Arifeen
In our new segment, Student to Faculty, we approach lecturers and professors who once like us, also walked these hallways as students. And now we ask them about their experience of being on the other side of the classroom. Today we have with us Shehzad M Arifeen (Senior Lecturer, ESS) to share his experience.
Shehzad sir’s journey with BracU started as an Economics student and now he returns as a faculty for Anthropology. But while he was completing his master’s in Economics, he soon realized that his true calling lay in a subject he felt he understood and enjoyed on a deeper level: Anthropology. “You know when people say something that calls out to you? That was Anthropology to me,” he reflects.
Shehzad sir admits he was initially nervous about working alongside his former teachers as colleagues. But the warm and welcoming environment made him feel at home, solidifying his connection to the institution. He recalled other significant changes from his student days, importantly being the move to the new campus.
He reflects on his student life and the importance of academia. He urges us to focus on our studies and be on the lookout for our true calling, just as he found anthropology.
