BracU triumphs at IUB’s Inter-University video making competition

On April 13th, Adnan Rahman (Junior, SoP) championed the Inter-University Video Making Competition for World Health Day 2026. The competition brought together students from many universities and medical colleges, and was focused on public health issues in Bangladesh. The Independent University of Bangladesh (IUB) hosted the event under the theme “Together for Health: Stand with Science”. It used posters and videos to promote scientific solutions and raise public awareness.

Dr Tahmeed Ahmed (Executive Director, icddr,b) and Dr Md. Khairul Islam (Regional Director WaterAid South Asia) among others, attended the event as a guest speaker and made it significant by sharing their valuable experience. The competition was followed by a seminar on Acute Malnutrition of Children in Bangladesh: A Public Health Problem Often Ignored”.

Adnan mentions, “My personal experience became more intense through my solo participation while most individuals competed in a team. At times, I doubted my efforts, but in the end, that challenge made the experience even more meaningful”. His project focused on bringing together digital health, data, and scientific innovation to strengthen the One Health approach- a concept which acknowledges the link between human health, animal health, and the environment. He adds that the competition helped him develop critical thinking and effective communication skills. Adnan aspires to dedicate himself to the field of public health even more in the future by contributing in ways that will create real impact in Bangladesh.
