“Rising Star 24” day 2: competition grows hotter
The carrom group stage continued to wow the crowds just like yesterday. In the men’s section, after a whirlwind of strikes and stunning the audience, Animesh Paul and Mirza Md Shafi Uddin emerged as champions in Group C and Group D. A long drawn and heated match-up between M Mahin Reza and Rakibur Rahman Rabby (Group C) keeping the referees on their toes, became the highlight of the day.
As for the badminton groups, both male and female segments of today played with intense determination. For the female segment of group 8, the champion was Samiyat Rahman. Group 15 of the male segment highlighted one of the best matches of the day when Tawkir Arifin VS Mishpa Ahmed Samrat played as if their lives depended on it and with each calculated shot, the match leveled up to new heights. At the end, Samrat emerged as the champion of Group 15. With a smile on his face, Samrat (CSE, Freshmen) said “I did not expect to win this match given there were great players here. I feel really happy”. Washikur Rahman emerged as the winner from group 30 against Md Masjud Murshed after an eternity of powerful shots which rarely touched the floor.
