Bites and sips : A guide to refreshments around the campus

Are you tired of risking a side of “extra crunch” with your uni cafeteria order? Struggling to find budget-friendly snacks that suit your plate after the shutdown of ‘chipi-chapa’? Don’t worry, we’ve got you! This edition of BracU Express presents “Foodie Finds at BracU,” which provides a list of top campus snack spots with menus, allowing you to explore interesting options without breaking the bank.

Walking out the pocket gate, you’ll find a row of food spots perfect for quick bites. Starting on the right, “Cafeista,” a newly opened cute coffee shop, serves budget-friendly drinks (40-99 BDT) that are hard to resist. Next up are “Chill House”, “Fruit Tree”, and “Moon Drinks Point”, offering snacks like shingara, rolls, sandwiches, and drinks. Beside Moon Drinks Point, “Petuk Naki” needs no introduction—its meatbox is more than just a snack; it’s an emotion. But don’t miss out on their exclusive subs, burgers, and nachos at this spot! Across from Petuk Naki, you’ll find carts selling bhelpuri and jhalmuri—always a fun snack!

Directly opposite the pocket gate, a flight of stairs leads to a newly opened food corner. On the left, “Bite Delight” offers budget-friendly snacks like burgers, chowmein, and shashlik. On the right, delicious momos are waiting to be devoured at the Peace of Pieces. From naga momos, which are perfect for rainy days, to cheese momos on a day, comfort is the primary goal. You will find all kinds of momos within a reasonable budget and minimal waiting time. But if the spices get you all worked up, there is a juice place right next to it called Liquid Treat to quench your taste buds.

Navigating away from the pocket gate, you’ll find another food corner near the former location of Chipichapa, right beside Salt. However, before reaching that, you will need to overcome the most persuasive obstacle of all, Helen Aunty. She offers delicious cakes at 50/= and snacks like sandwiches at forever-rated prices. If you can manage to pass by her without buying anything from her, you will find carts of jhalmuri, fuchka, and bhelpuri in a row, snacks you will never be too full to ignore. Now as we reach Chipichapa, alongside a tea stall, ‘Folafol’ serves refreshing drinks to lift your spirits, while Steak Chicken offers meatboxes, cones, shawarma, and more.

At Food Valley, the two-storied food haven, the first floor features gems like ‘Lamia Tehari Ghar’ and an unnamed stall dishing out fried snacks like shingara and chops, which are perfect for cash-strapped days but their chicken lollipop got etched on its customers’ minds. Other spots include ‘Thandai’, ‘Khan’s Drink Store’, ‘Time2eat’, and another of many ‘Petuk Naki’ carts.

The second floor greets you with booming music and a variety of options. “Junction,” “Tong Dokan,” and “Galettes” offer coffee, tea, juices, and shakes. For savory delights, check out “Chiks & Mix,” “Elysia Eats”, and “Tripti”.doesn’t the name Tripti stir some nostalgic feelings for every BracU student? Great branding!)

Finally, did you know a new food place called “New Chipichapa” is just a short walk from Food Valley? Walk straight from Food Valley, take a right, and you’ll find this gem. Here, “Peace of pieces’ (serving momos), Stated Food? (known for meat boxes) are at the forefront. Venturing i,n you can find ‘Refreshers 2.0’ ready to satisfy all your hydration needs with their refreshing beverages.

And that wraps up our snack hunt for now! Hopefully, this guide makes your food quest a bit easier. One thing’s for sure—BracU is brimming with meatboxes and mint lemonades!
